Solar gear

The solar gear on a planetary motor has two distinct advantages. It produces less noise and heat than a helical gear. Its compact footprint also minimizes noise. A planetary gearbox is composed of a sun gear and two or more planetary ring and spur gears. The sun gear is the primary gear and is driven by the input shaft.
